  2. State Cost Share-MRBI Practices • MRBI 1: Precision Nutrient • Management Incentive • MRBI 2: Soil Quality/Health • Incentive

MRBI1 Precision Nutrient Management Incentive • This State Cost Share Practice is initiated when a participant signs up for a CAP-NMP under EQIP-MRBI. • KY DOC will accept continuous applications for this practice. • Practice Must follow NRCS Specifications and Nutrient Management 590, MRBI – Conservation Practice Job Sheet for Precision Farming in Kentucky. • Payment Rate is currently being updated • Maximum Payment: $20,000

MRBI2 Soil Quality / Health Incentive • This State Cost Share Practice is initiated when a participantis approved for Soil Quality Cover Crop under EQIP-MRBI. • KY DOC will accept continuous applications for this practice. • Practice Must follow NRCS Specifications and Cover Crop Job Sheet 340a, Soil Quality – Conventional or Organic , Cereal Rye / High Biomass / Roll Down • Payment Rate is currently being developed • Maximum Payment: $20,000

  5. At this point there is not a specific sign-up period for 2012 State Cost Share. • Available funds presently is $2.8 million

  6. 2012 Proposed State Cost Share Changes • KSP 53 Integrated Crop Management: Practice Removed for the 2012 sign up period • KSP55 Pesticide Containment Facilities: NRCS currently working on new engineering specification for an Agrichemical Handling Facility • KSW2 Heavy Use Area Protection: Addition of a Winter Feeding Area: Specifications to follow • KSW3 Prescribed Grazing System Establishment: Currently working with Grazing Land Specialist to make improvements

  7. 2012 Proposed State Cost Share Changes • KSW6 Forest Land Erosion Control System: Working with NRCS and KY Division of Forestry to update language in this practice. • KSW11 Pasture & Hayland Forage Quality/Quantity & Erosion Control: Update Practice name • KWP9 Soil Quality/Health: New 2012 Practice, Producer must be prior approved under EQIP for 340a: Soil Quality Cover Crop

  8. KY Agriculture Water Quality Act What is the Agriculture Water Quality Act: The Ag water Quality Act was passed by the Kentucky General Assembly in 1994. The act protects surface and groundwater resources from pollution from agriculture and silviculture practices. Who is affected? The act effects all landowners with 10 or more contiguous acres and who conduct agriculture or silvicluture operations on their land. What must be implemented? All landowners/land users with 10 or more acres of land that is used for agriculture or silviculture operations must develop and implement a water quality plan based on guidance from the Kentucky Agriculture Water Quality Plan.
