Who’s approval are you seeking? • Text: II Tim. 2:15 (NIV): Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. • (2 Tim 2:15 KJV) Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

  3. Subject: Who’s approval are you seeking? • Purpose: To examine what it means to obedience to God • Objective: To understand that studying God’s word will enable you to get God’s approval in everything you do in life.

Subject: Who’s approval are you seeking? • There are two key words and phrases that we want to consider in this text: • Study,and approval • Paul told Timothy • (2 Tim 1:6-7 NIV) "For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. {7} For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline."

Study: 4704. spoudazo, spoo-dad'-zo; from G4710; to use speed, i.e. to make effort, be prompt or earnest:--do (give) diligence, be diligent (forward), endeavour, labour, study. • The object of the ministry is not please men but God. • If any man please God, it will be as the result of deliberate intention and a careful life.

  6. Subject: Who’s approval are you seeking? • Approved:dokimos, dok'-ee-mos: acceptable (current after assayed), i.e. approved, tried. • It is easy to be Christian if you are never challenged. I’m not talking about being able to answer a bible question. I’m talking making decision that you know will be acceptable to God. Decision that will impact your witness or testimony as Christian.

Subject: Who’s approval are you seeking? • Test: • Whether or not to become sexually active as a teenager. • Whether or not to be addicted to alcohol, gambling or drugs. • Whether or not live in sin or get married. • Whether or not to make worship and Christian fellowship • Whether or not to be broke and burden or rich and blessing • Whether or not to be educate and wise or uneducated and stupid • Etc.,Etc. • Paul said to Timothy show thyself approved: • We are all going to have daily opportunities to show who is more important – Ourselves, Someone else or God. • Your actions, not your words will indicate whose approval you are seeking.

Then he went on his journey. 16The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more. 17So also, the one with the two talents gained two more. 18But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money.

So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. •  28" 'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. 29For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. 30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.‘ • A Talent was worth more than a thousand dollars.
