Graduate Classifications • Masters (G7) • Doctoral (G7 & G8) • G7 – entering doctoral program without Masters degree • G8 – entering doctoral program with Masters degree or have completed 30 graded hours towards Ph.D. • Other (G6 & G9) • G6 – non-degree seeking • G9 – official documents not received at TAMU • If you have not submitted final, official admission documents, you will be blocked from registering after your first semester.
Master’s Degree Requirements • 158 Master degrees • Examples include MS, MA, MEN, MAR, MBA, MCS, MAG, etc. • Thesis-Option • Degree Plan, Residency, Research Proposal, Final Examination, and Graduation • Non-Thesis Option/Professional • Degree Plan, Final Examination or Exemption from Final Examination, and Graduation
Doctoral Degree Requirements • 96 Master degrees • PHD, DEN, EDD • Degree Plan, Residency, Preliminary Examination, Research Proposal, Final Examination, Dissertation or Record of Study, and Graduation
English Language Requirements (International Students) • Verified status • Certified status • English Language Proficiency Exam

Informal Conversations • Ask OGS • Held once per month • Thursday evenings, 5-7 PM • Refreshments • OGS Staff Available for O&A • No set agenda

Thesis Office • Reviews all theses and dissertations. • Clears students for graduation. • Provides the Thesis Manual and templates. • Pre-submittal conference not required, but highly recommended. Thesis.tamu.edu
