Alma Farm Owners: Types of business • Gina and Geof Hancock are first generation farmers. • Theyhave a few simple beliefs that guide their farming practice: We believe that building and tending quality soil will translate into healthy, nutritious vegetables; that livestock deserves respectful handling and the opportunity to live out their lives on pasture; and that great farming doesn't happen without community.
Alma Farm Community Supported Agriculture • What Does The Customer Get? Members can expect a bushel box of vegetables each week. The share tends to be a little lighter and more greens heavy in the beginning, and as the season goes along, it diversifies and bulks up. Members also get a connection to their food, farmer and the not-to-be-played-down aspect of supporting their local economy. Members also can come to the farm to pick bouquets from our rows of cut flowers.
Alma Farm What Does The Farm Get? • When members sign up and pay for a seasons worth of food, we know that the food is sold. Farming, organic farming, is more of a gamble than we like to acknowledge, and with a CSA program, we know that there are people out there who care, and are willing to take the risk with us. We also get the peace of mind that our food in getting into the hands of those who will use it well... we have a connection with the people who are eating our food... a connection with our community. Its those connections that truly keep the farm going.
