2. Quiz Answers Hello and welcome to the first edition of Crosspool Juniors Under 9s Fanzine. It’s designed to give a little bit of extra insight into the club, hopefully involve and entertain the kids and maybe raise a little bit of money. So to that end, I would invite the kids and parents to get involved as much as they can, whether its pictures or funny stories, we would like as much input as possible. You all know my email address so feel free to send any contributions. The season started off on the wrong foot, losing some of our players from last year but pleasingly allowed us the opportunity to sign new players. I would like to say how well they have settled in as its never easy to join a new team, let alone playing competitive football matches, so well done to them. With that in mind, we played our first game against Brampton with only 10 men and although we played some great football and were leading 5-1 at one point, we ended up losing. Since then we have gone from strength to strength with great results away and at home (minus a cup match). In particular against Norton Lees, although it wasn’t our best football, the work rate was incredible. On the whole, the kids have showed a great attitude and always play with a smile on their face. So many thanks to all that have helped so far during the season, whether its putting up nets or doing the raffle. Hope you enjoy this fanzine and more importantly I hope the kids do. 3. Tight The CJFC Zine Well Hard Footy Quiz ????????? CJFC 6 Brampton Rovers 9 (5-1 HT) 11th Sept 1st game of season with only 10 players available. Won 1st game 5-1 with Damon, Taylor, Archie and Joe combining really well going forward. Dylan and Matthew looked solid at the back. Good debut from Alex Highland who came on in midfield for the 2nd half. Lost 2nd game 7-2, possibly due to tiredness. Harrison made some great saves to keep us in it and Abdi scored a beauty from distance. Scorers – Joe (3), Taylor (2), Abdi. Manton Ath 2 CJFC 2 (0-0 HT) 18th Sept A tight 1st game with Manton’s big pitch making it difficult to create chances. Good debuts from our new signings – Tom and Louis. Luke had his best game yet, making some fantastic runs and passing well. 2nd game a bit more open with a great first goal from another debutant, Javier. Ethan also started his first game for us and looked accomplished both in net and defence. Unlucky not to win this one with Abdi hitting another piledriver against the bar and Taylor hitting the post. Scorers – Javier, Taylor CJFC 5 Millhouse Jrs 2 (4-0 HT) 25th Sept A home victory in our 3rd game of the season and another new debutant - Matty. Two brilliant goals in the first game – a long range free kick from Joe and a classy volleyed finish from Alex Darke. Damon controlled the midfield creating chances and getting on the scoresheet himself Clean sheet for Harri who was excellent off his line. Started well in the 2nd game but faded a bit 2nd half. Dylan showed his composure at the back helping us towards overall victory Scorers – Joe (2), Alex D, Damon, Javier CJFC 2 Woodhouse Jrs 12 (2-10 HT) 27th Sept Early exit from the cup at the hands of a strong and professional Woodhouse team. Enough said! Harri was outstanding in goal. Scorers – Abdi (pen), Archie Who is the current manager of Doncaster Rovers? What was the score of last season’s Champions League final? Which England captain also managed Sheffield United? In what year did England win the World Cup? What team have won the most European Cups? 4. Tight Guess The Player Norton Lees 5 CJFC 6 (5-2HT) 2nd Oct A return to winning ways and our 1st away victory of the season against a decent Norton team who played some good football. In the first game Alex D’s tireless running and harrying saw him score a well deserved hatrick. New debutant Dilan slotted into defence with Ethan playing well in midfield. Plus a first goal for Alex Highland. Second game saw a tense finish with Taylor keeping a cool head to score the winner in the closing minutes. Special mention to Archie who went in net for the 2nd half and ‘took one for the team’, making a brave save at the foot of their striker. Scorers – Alex D (3), Alex H, Taylor, Damon SWYO 8 CJFC 1 (2-0HT) 2nd Oct A fantastic performance against a really good Young Owls team. EVERYONE played really well in both games and it’s difficult to single any particular player out. However, once again, Harri had a blinder making some amazing saves, Dilan was a rock at the back and special mentions for both a wonderful long rang free kick scored by Alex D and an incredible last ditch tackle from Dylan Smith. As the nights draw in it’s important that you wrap up well and prepare for the winter conditions. ere! Warm up/down OK, they’re not as exciting as playing but the warm up and warm down are important and will help prevent aches and pains after playing, reduce muscle injuries and improve flexibility. Homework As dark nights approach there are less opportunities for practice at home. However, this shouldn’t mean you can’t practice at all. Why not find a wall nearby (or friend) and kick the ball using your weaker foot. Try different techniques – side foot, laces, volley, half-volley.
