HR Leadership is about finding your voice…. “Know ahead of time what areas you will never personally or professionally compromise and stand your ground.” - Barbara Beck “We have an obligation to hold the institution accountable, ourselves accountable." -Michael Brannigan, Ph.D.
HR Leadership is about using your influence to shape the organization…. “We need to listen with our ears and also listen with our hearts.”- Cathy Halakan “The difference between a generalist and a leader is being able to work in the gray areas.“ - John Bagyi
HR Leadership is about having courage…. “You can’t be afraid to make a decision. You have to accept the fact you might make a mistake.” - Cathy Halakan “HR is the conscience of the organization. Be courageous about advocating.” - Daniel Cunningham “Choose the harder right, not the easier wrong.” - Daniel Cunningham
HR Leadership is about having credibility…. “You spend a lifetime getting credibility and in a heartbeat lose it. Credibility comes from follow through.” - Anne Saile “Your organizational strength lives and dies on the competency of your managers.” -Cathy Halakan “It’s not just business knowledge, it’s knowledge of your business.” - Randy Hughes
There is no “somewhere over the rainbow.” Leadership lessons learned… At every workplace, HR needs to ask “What more can I do for you? How can I help you?” -Bruce Wilhelm
“Take off what you can’t control – focus on what you can.” – Sue Corney Don’t be distracted by flying monkeys “98% of employees just want to do their job. In HR, we meet the other 2% every day. Keep in mind the balance.” – Bruce Wilhelm
