Drawing Time! Draw a tourist. Draw an annoying tourist. Imagine a tourist you might see if you were vacationing on an island.
When does the shift occur? • Stand up! • Draw an invisible pizza on the ceiling by creating a clockwise motion with your pen. • Lower the circle to your forehead, then chin, then chest, then waist.
Why are we annotating? • Annotation = the process of writing critical or explanatory notes on a text INTERACTION 2) Annotation helps you read closely and remember what you read. 3) We are annotating because some people like to fake their way through their education assuming they won’t get caught, but then their lousy essays totally give them away. Annotation = ACCOUNTABILITY
Annotation Tips • Just a highlighter is not enough. (Anyone could highlight anything – no accountability.) Annotation requires marginal notes. 2) A pencil is better than a pen. If it’s impossible for you to write directly in the book, try post-it notes.
Annotation Tips 3) How much? Enough. I’m not looking for annotations on every single page of the novel, but if more than 5 pages in a row are un-annotated, then you’ve likely missed something important. 4) A pencil is better than a pen. If it’s impossible for you to write directly in the book, try post-it notes.
