Steve LeMay • Field Service Advisor Gustave A Larson Company 13200 10th Avenue North Plymouth, Minnesota 55441 • 800-827-9508 ext 346 • 612-656-4346 (Direct)
Agenda • Installation • Set up • Fault code retrieval • Cleaning
How it works • 24 volt power supply • Internal bridge rectifier • High voltage output of 8.0 KVDC to 9.6 KVDC • Field adjustable high voltage output • Collector cells coated with conductive Ink
Pre Filter • Stops large air born particles • Easy to clean by vacuuming or washing
Field Charger • The field charger electrically charges air born particles • Cleaning by authorized service personnel only
Collector Cells • Collector cells trap very small air born particles • Easily cleaned by vacuuming or washing with low pressure water • Detergents should not be applied to the collector cells Collector Cells
Filter guide channel • Easy to install Filter Guide Channel
Collector cell cut away Conductive ink to end Conductive ink stops Collector cell section Conductive ink
Power Door • Houses the electronics • Provides access to the pre filter, field charger and collector cells • Status bar LED’s, power button, reset button, and pre filter LED are located on the front
Do not install filter in discharge air stream Do not install filter where it can be exposed to UV light Atomizing/bypass humidifiers must be installed downstream of the air cleaner 28 inches clearance in front of the air cleaner is required for service Turning vanes or long radius elbows are required in the return drop to the air cleaner Installation
No Silicon caulk (out gassing) 21 & 24 inch models require a transition between the furnace and air cleaner Bottom returns the furnace must be supported( don’t set the furnace directly on the air cleaner) Install the 50 VA transformer provided with the air cleaner Be aware of the static pressure drops Installation
Electrical Connections • Replace indoor unit transformer • Power is supplied to air cleaner by the indoor unit transformer • 10 feet of cable with a 6 pin connector is provided • The 6 pin connector plugs into the power door of the air cleaner
Wall Mount Transformer • Wall mounted transformer is recommended for indoor units other than Trane Kit #baytrans12024a • Voltage check is necessary when wall mounted transformer is applied
Set Up Mode • In the Set Up Mode you can: • Set the cleaning interval for the pre filter • Set the cleaning interval for the collector cells • Set the power level Pre Filter Collector Cells Power Level Dirty Dirty Dirty Clean Clean Clean
Set-Up Mode • Enter the set up mode by pressing and holding power and reset buttons for 5 seconds • The display will indicate how the unit is programmed • The factory settings are displayed • To change settings press power button once Dirty Factory Settings Clean
Scroll through the settings by repeatedly pressing reset button To save the settings and advance to the next setting press the power button once Exit the set up mode by pressing and holding power and reset buttons for 5 seconds Set-Up Mode Pre-Filter Collection Cells Power Level 3 Months 9 Months 9.6 KVDC Dirty Clean
Time Delays • 10 second time delay on a call for cooling • 90 second time delay on a call for heating • 10 minute time delay anytime the power to the air cleaner is turned off and on.
Normal Operation • During normal operation the green LED #1 with flash slowly when the blower is operating • There may be some other LED’s on based upon time to clean intervals
Three yellow flashing LED’s indicates the controls have detected 10 consecutive high voltage shut downs Three red flashing LED’s indicates the controls have detected the same fault 3 times in a row after a high voltage shut down Need for Service R3 R2 R1 Y4 Y3 Y2 Y1 G3 G2 G1
To enter the fault code log Go into the set up mode (press and hold power and reset for 5 seconds) Press and hold reset for 10 seconds Display goes out Green LED #1 and a combination of yellow and red LED’s indicate the first recorded fault in the log Fault Code Retrieval R3 R2 R1 Y1 G3 G2
Fault Code Log • Matching the pattern of LED flashes will give an indication of what fault has been posted to the fault code log • The column on the right of the chart will provide the recommended service procedure for that fault • An example is service procedure #5 is for repetitive arcing. The service procedure is to clean collection cell and field charger and check for arcing through plastic frame to cabinet
Power Door Test Caution high voltage is present for this test • Turn the air cleaner on and enter the set up mode • Adjust the power setting for normal (9.6 KVDC) • Exit the set-up mode and wait for green LED #1 to begin to flash • Connect the high voltage probe per manufacture instructions • Touch the center contact of the power door • The voltage should read 9.6KVDC +/- 600 volts
Power Door Test • Using a screwdriver, jumper wire, and dry paper • Tape a piece of paper to the screwdriver extending ½” beyond the end • Connect the jumper wire from the screwdriver shaft to the ground contact of the power door
Cleaning • Pre-filter cleaning • The pre-filter may be vacuumed or washed • It should be completely dry before re-installing • Collection cell cleaning • The collection cells may be vacuumed or washed • Vacuum both sides • Wash using low pressure sprayer. Warm water will remove some residue
Cleaning • Do Not • Use soap or detergents on collection cells • Immerse collection cells completely in water • Place collection cells into a dishwasher • If water is used in cleaning collection cells • Slightly tap the collection cell to remove water • The collection cell must be dry before re-installing • Reset filter timers • Reset pre-filter timer: press and hold the reset button until pre-filter LED goes out (1 to 2 seconds) • Reset collection cell timer: press and hold reset button until collection cell LED’s go out (4 to 5 seconds)
Cleaning • Cleaning field charger • Field charger should be cleaned annually • Turn air cleaner off and remove power door • Bend field charge locking tab down and remove field charger • Wipe face plate with dry shop towel or vacuum Field charger locking tab
Cleaning • Caution field charger pins are sharp • Do not bend pins • Wear gloves • Use a block of foam to clean the pins • Push the foam block over the pin • Rotate the foam block • Use the foam block to clean faceplate opening edges • Reinstall field charger and bend one locking tab
Trouble Shooting • Air Passing Through the Cleaner Emits a Slight Sound • Select Lower “Power Setting” in the “Set Up” Mode to Reduce • Minimal Impact on Cleaning Efficiency
ACCE’s Update • Power door improvements • Missing and incorrect components
ACCE’s Update New contacts 1” diameter • Power door improvements • New contacts are in production • Latch handles shorten • Door hinge clips angle change • Task team reviewing all aspects of door fit • Field visits being made • More latch improvements • Cabinet deflection being investigated Door hinge clip angle change Latch handles shortened
