Venus also has mountains that are bigger then earth • Galileo found Venus in 1610. • In addition to having sulphuric acid rain, Venus also has an atmosphere that has much more pressure than ours does because of carbon dioxide. • Two high-altitude balloons built to hover in sulphuric acid clouds could be part of a future fleet of spacecraft sent to Venus • Fact 1 Venus’s surface can melt lead. Fact 2 it takes 224 days to orbit around the sun. Fact 3 Venus’s clouds are filled with sulphuric acid.

Saturn • All four gas giant planets have rings -- made of chunks of ice and rock • It was discovered also in 1610 • is made up approximately 75% hydrogen and 25% helium, with trace amounts of other substances like water ice and methane. • Pioneer 11 was flown to Saturn. • Fact 1 Saturn is the second largest. Fact 2 Saturn has seven thin, flat rings around it. Fact 3 A100 pound object on Earth would weight 116 pounds on Saturn.

Uranus • Uranus is the 3rd of the Gas Giant planets • Discovered on March 13, 1781 • Uranus has more methane in its mainly hydrogen and helium atmosphere • Uranus has 27 known satellites. • Fact 1 Uranus mass is more than 14 times larger than Earth. Fact 2 It is the second least dense planet after Saturn. Fact 3 In many Asian languages, Uranus' name is translated into “Sky king star”.

9. Neptune • Dark, cold and whipped by supersonic winds, Neptune is the last of the hydrogen and helium gas giants in our solar system. More than 30 times as far from the sun as Earth • founded on September 23, 1846 by Johann Gottfried. • Neptune is the last of the hydrogen and helium gas giants in our solar system • space probe Voyager 2, 12 years to reach it. • Fact 1 Neptune once had a great dark spot similar to Jupiter. Fact 2 Neptune has 8 known moons. Fact 3 Neptune is 30 times farther from the sun as is the Earth.

Pluto??? • It was demoted • Pluto and its moon Chiron, which would both have been planets under the inidefinition proposed Aug. 16, now get demoted because they are part of a sea of other objects that occupy the same region of space. Earth and the other eight large planets have, on the other hand, cleared broad swaths of space of any other large objects.
