The benefits of the Collaboration • Effective inclusion and daily socialisation between the students of the two schools. • Additional qualifications. • Ability to participate in big projects! E.g. Performing in the Lyric • Work experience placement and career guidance. • References for future applications to Higher Education or jobs for Bloomfield Collegiate Students. • Staff sharing good practice
Difficulties faced so far • Timetables. • Schools belong to different ALCs. • Managing attendance at “host” school. • Additional paperwork.
Promoting positive relationship between staff. Feeling of accountability for students from both schools! Being clear and ensuring that students are well prepared and know what to expect. Ensure that staff are prepared to undertake additional work (paperwork, meetings, phone calls). How to make it work
How to make it work • Ensure that each project /activity has a very specific purpose. • Promote and “advertise” the collaboration. • Celebrate the achievements. • Frequent evaluation meetings.
The future of the Collaboration • Ensure that current collaboration is sustainable • Add more qualifications or progress to higher levels • of existing qualifications (e.g. Level 2 Performance skills, Life and Living Skills Performing Arts) • Collaboration for promotion of CoPE qualification in Tor Bank • Create or strengthen links with outside agencies (Ulster Bank, National Trust, KIC Drama, Arts Council)
