Economic Development Through Public / Private Partnerships

The Employer Assisted Housing Program partners with government grant sources to help employers retain and recruit qualified employees. By offering a small contribution through this program, employees can access grants to purchase homes in Nassau or Suffolk Counties. Administered through LIHP, the program requires minimal paperwork for employers. Grants are provided via Federal “HOME” Funds, New York State Affordable Housing Corporation, and Long Island Senate Delegation HELP Allocation. The program aims to retain and recruit qualified employees, improve morale, and enhance corporate image. Benefits to companies include maintaining a competitive edge, reducing turnover and hiring costs, enhancing loyalty, and improving morale and performance. The Long Island Housing Partnership's EAH Program has awarded over $9 million in grants, with over $1.5 million in employer matching grants and generating over $100 million in home mortgages. Over 300 employees and 130 employers have participated, ranging from small private entrepreneurs to large multinationals, unions, and universities.
