  1. Multiplying fraction-Cross multiplication method

  2. Cross cancellation method Cross cancellation is step we perform before we multiply fraction. This simplifies the fraction and we multiply smaller numbers and we get simplified fraction. Using cross cancellation method, we can reduce any numerator with any denominator even though they are not in the same fraction -1 In this example, -5 and 10 can both be divided by 5, even though they are not in the same fraction. 2

  3. Example 1 Lets use cross multiplication method to simplify the fraction 1 After dividing 3 and 9 by 3 we get 3 -1 After dividing -4 and 8 by 4 we get 2 Now the fractions cannot be simplified further so just multiply the fractions by multiply the numerator and denominator respectively Note : We can divide numbers any order, the above are just one of the way to cross cancellation fraction

  4. Example 1 Lets use cross multiplication method to simplify the fraction -2 After dividing 14 and 7 by 7 we get 1 Now the fractions cannot be simplified further so just multiply the fractions by multiply the numerator and denominator respectively
