May/June Second Grade News. Math In Math, we will complete our Measurement unit and begin our u nit on Money. The children will practice counting and c omparing a collection of pennies, nickels, dimes and q uarters whose total value is $2.00 or less and will learn

May/JuneSecond Grade News Math In Math, we will complete our Measurement unit and begin our unit on Money. The children will practice counting and comparing a collection of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters whose total value is $2.00 or less and will learn how to correctly use the cent symbol, dollar symbol and decimal point. Science In Science, we will begin our unit on Life Cycles. The second graders will investigate and understand that plants and animals undergo a series of orderly changes. Each second grade class will also have the opportunity to watch the actual life cycle of a butterfly as we will be receiving caterpillars soon! It will be exciting to watch their transformation! Social Studies In Social Studies, we will be exploring our neighbors, Canada and Mexico. We will learn about their climate, land and plant life. We will also learn how the people of Mexico and Canada adapt to their environment.
