  2. Reason • Humans have emotions, he has emotions therefore he is human.- deductive reasoning • Inductive reasoning- he is not made of organs blood and flesh therefore he is not human • Confirmation bias- working with other machines in the past to see they have no emotion and therefore concluding he will not either and so is not human. • Coherence- the attachments he had to the different priceless items.

  3. Language • Intended language- treat him like a human and he is a human. • Definition theory- he is not a human. • Denotation theory- he is a piece of property • Image- theory- he looks and is practically human. • Euphemisms to make it sound more pleasant, to influence and persuade • Revealing and concealing-told the judge only what she wanted to hear

  4. Sense perception • Confirmation: if it looks like and apple and tastes like an apple then it is an apple. -He looks like a human, acts like a human then he is a human Independent Testimony: if 10 people saw something it must be true -If many people believe it then it must be true. • Sensation and interpretation. • Common sense realism-(Confirmation) what he looks and acts like • Scientific realism- when he asks what he is made of • Phenomenalism- experience with him and working with him

  5. Emotion • When you EMPATHISE with someone you take on the physical symptoms – the mood. When he creates sympathy for him- James-Lange Theory • Emotions created the entire case • The emotion was an obstacle to knowledge, he is not human however emotion perceives him to be equal(in reason and knowledge) • Emotion – Reason – a continuum – we can gauge how rational our emotion is.
