    2. Reflection 1 What do you think about Charlie so far? Would you be friends with him? What is you reaction to the way people treat Charlie? Give several examples of good or bad things people have done to him. Do you think there are real people in the world that would treat others like this? Why do you think they do it? Has reading this story changed the way that you look at people who are different than you? How? How would you treat Charlie if you worked at the box factory?

    3. Reflection 2 Explain how Charlie felt when he realized that people were making fun of him. Have you ever felt this way? Explain. Have you ever seen someone teased for something they couldn’t help? Explain. What is wrong with people teasing others? What damage can it do? Why do you think people laugh when others make hurtful jokes about others? What is one small thing that you can do to change the way people treat others?

    4. Reflection 3 Make a prediction as to how you think the story will end. Have you enjoyed reading the story so far? Explain. What theme might this story teach us? Do you think Charlie should have had the surgery now? Why or why not? Who was the most likable person in the story? Who was the most unlikable? Why? What would you say to Charlie if you could have a conversation with him? What would you say to the guys at the factory, the doctors, or Miss Kinnion? Would you recommend this story to others? Why?
