Generally accepted by both the dominant society and the tribal society. Able to know, accept and practice both mainstream values and behaviors and traditional values and behaviors of their cultural heritage. Bi-Cultural Acculturation
Accepted by the dominant society and embrace mainstream cultural values, behaviors and expectations. Assimilated Acculturation
Assimilated Native Americans who have made a conscious choice to return to the ‘old ways’. • They are generally accepted by the dominant society. • Seek to embrace previously lost traditional cultural values, beliefs and practices of their tribal heritage. Pan-traditional acculturation
