Indigenous populations throughout the landmass Settlements on eastern coast, minimal progress inland 2. What types of people live in these areas? Indigenous nations European explorers, European settlers, some slaves/servants 3. What brought these different groups to these areas? Push Factors: persecution or expulsion from homeland, poor conditions Pull Factors: desire to explore, potential for wealth, national expansion
