How is a Nuclear Reaction different from a Chemical Reaction? • Chemical reactions involve transferring or sharing electrons.

What is Nuclear Radiation? • Particles & energy emitted from the nucleus of a radioactive element.
What is an isotope? • A form of an element with a different number of neutrons • Many elements have radioactive isotopes
3 Types of Radiation • Alpha radiation • Consists of (alpha particles) that have been emitted from a radioactive source. • Each alpha particle has 2 protons and 2 neutrons
