What is Curator • The Earth System Curator project, in partnership with the Earth System Grid (ESG), is building a web portal that links model components and data together via metadata . • The portal enables components, models, simulations, and data to be searched, browsed, downloaded, and compared. • This is especially useful for Model Intercomparison Projects (MIPS) and Model Component Intercomparison Projects. • The portal is planned for use in IPCC AR5 as part of ESG. • Other partners include ESMF, Georgia Tech, GFDL, and members of the European model metadata community.
Table Comparison Details • Select model components • Select criteria • Table generated dynamically • Eventually selections can be placed in a user’s saved workspace http://dycore.ucar.edu/query/modelComparison.htm
Future Work on Curator ESMF and other model frameworks enable self-describing model components XML File Models export metadata as part ofthe global attributes of theirhistory files Metadata harvested directly from the file
