Erawan Waterfall and National Park a few km from Kanchanaburi is one of the most spectacular waterfall in Thailand. The ride from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi and the Erawan Waterfalls is only about 3 hours and that means if the weather is fine in a weekend, Erawan is like Bangkok rush hour Friday late afternoon.
The buses to the Erawan Waterfall are in by dozens, minibuses plenty, the bass bangs out from the buses with full power, Thai people like noise, the more the better. Everyone walk to the marvelous Erawan waterfall. Actually its an array of waterfalls over 7 levels.Erawan Waterfall close to the River Kwai is a beautiful Thai travel spot which should be included in every Bangkok trip, if you wont go there you will miss something.
With effect from December 2007 entrance fee to Erawan Waterfall is back to normal Baht 200,- only Similan Islands marine NP is still Baht 400,- Plenty of hotels, bungalows, river resorts and guest houses are lining the River Kwai Bridge in the Erawan Waterfall area near Kanchanaburi Thailand.
Since Erawan Waterfall is relatively close to Bangkok, its a short ride from 3-4 hours on excellent roads, its the right weekend tour. Many other sightseeing spots are around, like the bridge over the River Kwai and a other waterfall, the Sai- Yoke Waterfall. Kayaking, canoeing and elephant ride in this beautiful tropical environment is also available around Erawan Waterfall.
In Kanchanaburi is a pleasant weather pattern and you wont need any travel guide, just ask the hotel or look here. You can find similar waterfalls and environment at Myanmar adventure travel. The River Kwai Bridge, known almost to everyone because of the great film The Bridge over the River Kwai made by David Lean is the lifeline of all this.
Coming down from Khao Laem Reservoir, the dark green very clean water moves between jungle thickets only from time to time some places are cleared to give way for some River Kwai river resorts and small hotels. Erawan falls in the Erawan National Park are a real positive spectacle and one of Thailand's great nature attractions, its worth to travel to Erawan Falls when you are in Bangkok.
The Erawan national park Kanchanaburi Thailand has another National Park with a great waterfall just nearby, its the Sai Yok Waterfall on the road from Kanchanaburi to the Three Pagoda Pass at the Thai - Myanmar border. Kanchanaburi is a very attractive Thai province for everyone who likes the green outdoors, rivers, jungles, streams, waterfalls and a pristine controllable environment away from chaos.
Some beautiful Thailand temples are along the main highway to Kanchanaburi and Erawan Waterfall. The road leads further to the three pagoda pass, which marks the border to Myanmar. Its a very typical Thai rural encounter at Kanchanaburi sugarcane county.
Thailand Erawan Waterfall National Park area is mainly for the local tourism out of Bangkok, rarely foreigners are spotted. Foreign tourist in Thailand usually prefer the beach areas in southern Thailand. Somehow its good that tourism in Thailand is not so visible in Kanchanaburi. The area is already packed with local tourists.
Perhaps this should be separated maybe. There are plenty of foreign tourist and travelers at Kanchanaburi - Bridge over the River Kwai but beyond not many make it on their Thailand vacation trip, beside even the Thai weather is very pleasant around Kanchanaburi between November and April. Its something for nature lover.
