Writing Your Report • Introduction • Discuss what you are doing in the report • What is the purpose of the report? • Preview the material to follow • What variables combinations will you be looking at? • Will you be comparing the variable combinations to each other? • Will you be relating it back to course material • Often this is written last but you may want to outline what your report will look like first • Multiple paragraphs maybe necessary
Writing Your Report • Introduction • Body • Analysis occurs here • Introduce the variable combination being examined • Reference the table being discussed (this will require that you manually number your tables) • What does the table show? • Cite at least three data points and explain what they mean • Cite % not frequencies • Given all the data presented, what conclusion can be drawn?

Final Tips • Write the report like you are going to give it to a person who has no idea what you are doing • Read the directions • Include a cover page • Your name and the name of your partner • Date you submit your work • Proofread/Edit • Have a friend read the paper for clarity • Cite % not frequencies • Remember you are not arguing a point you are describing data • This means you don’t have to explain why the data look the way they look • The word data is plural • “Data are” Not “Data is"
