How does it work? (am)n= amxn When there are two indices and one is outside the brackets and one inside multiplied together. This is similar to normal numbers for example 3(5) would be 3x5 this same rule applies to indices.
Example (a3)4 = a3x4 = a12 This will work every time and how needs to be set out.
Why use it? • As per all index laws you will need to know them in senior maths. • Index laws will be taken to many future careers especially business and engineering, but will also be useful in trades etc.
