  3. COURSE REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION All students in grades 9-12 must take at least 6.5 credits each year unless approved by administration.

  4. CREDIT DETAIL Your CREDIT DETAIL includes a listing of all of the courses you have taken and in which you are enrolled. Make sure you have met all of the requirements for graduation. English 1 1.0 9th English 2 1.0 10th English 3 1.0 11th English 4 1.0 1 semester must be writing (Catalog p. 15) Fine Arts 1 1.0 Health 1 .5 Math 1 3.0 Physical Education 1 2.0 Religion 1 2.0 Faith Seminar 2.0 Science 3 3.0 Physical and Life Science Social Studies 1 3.0 World Civilization, US History 1 semester of Government Elective Credits 5.5 Overall Credit Summary 26 required (minimum)

  5. DEPARTMENT OF RELIGION Faith Seminar .25 HS credit per quarter Required during 1 quarter of each semester. Theology 11 .25 HS credit per quarter Required during 1 quarter of each semester Semester 1: Meeting Jesus in the Sacraments Semester 2: Catholic Social Teaching Service: 10 hours of approved service per semester Catalog: 11-13

DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS Required for graduation: Minimum of 3 credits Generally including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, or Algebra 2 for Calculus, and Geometry as a basis for additional coursework College Courses: Math for Liberal Arts 3 credits and .5 HS credit Introduction to Statistics 3 credits and .5 HS credit (prerequisite – Math ACT of 22 or acceptable ALEKS score) Calculus I 4 credits and .5 HS credit (prerequisite – Math ACT of 27 or acceptable ALEKS score) AP Courses: AP Calculus .5 HS credit (prerequisite – successful completion of Calculus I) Catalog: 18-21

  11. DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL STUDIES Required for Graduation: Minimum of 3 credits for graduation Including: World Civilizations, US History, and 1 semester of Government plus .5 elective. College Courses: Introduction to Sociology 3 credits and .5 HS credit AP Courses: AP Psychology (Online).5 HS credit (prerequisite Biology) AP Microeconomics (Online).5 HS credit AP Macroeconomics (0nline) .5 HS credit Catalog: 26-30

DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES Foreign Language is not required for high school graduation; however, 2-3 years of the same foreign language may be required for college admission. 4 years is optimal. See Student Services concerning other foreign language questions. College Courses: Intermediate Spanish I 4 credits and .5 HS credit (prerequisite: 2-3 years of high school Spanish) Intermediate Spanish II 4 credits and .5 HS credit (prerequisite: Intermediate Spanish I) AP Courses: AP Spanish 1 HS credit per year Catalog: 31-33

DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION Business and Vocational Ed. are not required for high school graduation; however, classes in these areas offer real-life experiences and 21st century job skills. College Courses: Principles of Accounting 3 credits and .5 HS credit Introduction to Business 3 credits and .5 HS credit Personal Finance 3 credits and .5 HS credit (prerequisite: Algebra I) Catalog: 34-36

  14. DEPARTMENT OF FINE ARTS Students are required to take a minimum of 2 semesters of Fine Arts for graduation. Courses are available in both Music and Visual Arts. College Courses:Music Appreciation 3 credits and .5 HS credit Art Appreciation 3 credits and .5 HS credit (prerequisite: Art Foundations) Catalog: 37-41

  15. DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION 4 years of PE and 1 semester of Wellness are required for graduation. PE .25 HS credit per quarter Required during 1 quarter of each semester. Lifetime Fitness Competitive Fitness Weight Training Wellness: .5 HS credit Catalog: 42-44

  16. ACT INFORMATION • Take or retake the ACT. • Access the ACT website at actstudent.org. Register to take the test. Get test tips and take practice tests. Your username and password for ACTPREPONLINE are in your packet. Find your ACT scores. Get college planning, financial aid, and career planning information. Attend ACT Club.

Check actstudent.org. See Student Services if you do not intend to take the ACT for information about second assessment options.

EARLY GRADUATION EARLY GRADUATION: Should a student and his or her parents wish to investigate early graduation, he or she would follow the procedure below: • A conference is held with Student Services staff the first semester of junior year to discuss rationale and select an alternate course for graduation. • Credit requirements must be met in a satisfactory manner. • A conference with the student’s parents, principal, and student is arranged for final discussion and approval of the plan. It is the policy of the Assumption High School Board of Education that tuition for graduates will be charged on the basis of four years of studies. If a student elects to graduate in fewer than four years, he or she is still responsible for the full fourth year tuition at the prevailing rate. (Catalog p. 4)
