Join us for worship at OPC Cambridge Chimes. We begin with a warm welcome, announcements, and the ringing of the bell, followed by prelude music and the lighting of the candles. Our call to worship and invocation set the tone for a meaningful service. We sing hymns, engage in prayers of confession and assurance of pardon. We also have special music performances and recognition of our teachers, shepherds, and nursery caregivers. The Word of God is proclaimed through scripture readings and a sermon. We conclude with a baptismal ceremony, reminding us of our commitment to discipleship and the presence of Jesus in our lives.

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) We come as your baptized believers, O God, confessing our sins. You send us your Spirit to inspire and sustain us, but so often we do not respond to your presence.
You bless us as water is poured over us, yet our behavior does not match our blessings. Christ calls us to follow, yet we ignore his commandment.
Your goodness surrounds us everywhere, yet we overlook your abundant love much of the time. Have mercy upon us, God of second chances, and in your love uphold and forgive us.
ASSURANCEOF PARDON L: Rejoice, Sisters and Brothers! God’s love and Spirit are poured upon each of you. Feel God’s forgiving, healing and transforming power in your lives and be grateful. P: Thanks be to God. Amen.

PROCLAIMING THE WORD SCRIPTURE READING Matthew 3:13-17
Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him, saying, ‘I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?’ But Jesus answered him, ‘Let it be so now; for it is proper for us in thisway to fulfill allrighteousness.’
Then he consented. And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he was the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said,
SCRIPTURE READING Matthew 28:16-20
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’
L: This is the Word of the Lord. P: Thanks be to God!
“All the World” Rev. Tedd Pullano
Presentation Hear the words of our Lord Jesus Christ: All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and
teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Obeying the Word of our Lord Jesus, and confident of His promises, we baptize these whom God has called.
In baptism God claims us, and seals us to show that we belong to God. God frees us from sin and death, uniting us with Jesus Christ in his death and resurrection. By water and the Holy Spirit, we are made members of the church, the body of Christ, and joined to
Christ’s ministry of love, peace, and justice. Let us, each and every one, remember with joy our own baptism, as we celebrate this sacrament. Elder: On behalf of the Session, I present Aidan Jay Mulford, son of Ashley and Gary, to receive the Sacrament of Baptism.
Questions Ashley and Gary, do you desire that Aidan be baptized? I do. Relying on God’s grace, do you promise to live the Christian faith, and to teach that faith to your child? I do.
Jenna, do you promise, through prayer and example, to support and encourage Aidan to be a faithful Christian? I do.
Do you, as members of the church of Jesus Christ promise to nurture Aidan; do you promise to tell him the good news of the Gospel, and by word and deed, with love and prayer, guide him, nurture him, and encourage him to know and follow Christ,
to strengthen his family ties with the household of God and to be a faithful member of Christ’s church? Congregation:We do.
Profession of Faith Through baptism we enter the covenant God has established. Within this covenant God claims us as God’s own child and gives us new life, guards us from evil, and nurtures us in love. In embracing that covenant, we choose whom we will serve, by turning away from
evil, and turning toward Jesus Christ. I ask you, therefore, to reject sin, to profess your faith in Christ Jesus, and to confess the faith of the church – the faith in which we baptize.
Renunciations andAffirmations Ashley and Gary, trusting in the gracious mercies of God, do you renounce evil, and its power in the world, which defies God’s righteousness and love? I renounce them.
Do you renounce the ways of sin that separate you from the love of God? I renounce them. Do you turn to Jesus Christ and accept him as your Lord and Savior? I do.
Will you be Christ’s faithful disciple, obeying his word and showing his love? I will.
Profession With the whole congregation, let us confess our faith. Do you believe in God the Father Almighty? I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
Do you believe in Jesus Christ? I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and
was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he was raised; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
