Impact of Expanding Ethernet Network to Second Floor in a Company

This lab assignment explores the implications of expanding a star-shaped Ethernet network to the second floor due to increased employees. Students will run simulations, analyze results, create network models, and choose statistics to evaluate the system's performance. The lab report includes implementation details, analysis of obtained results, comparison with expectations, answers to given questions, conclusion, and suggestions for improvements.

  2. Small Internetworks • Scenario: • A company has a star-shaped Ethernet network on the first floor. Due to the increase in the number of employees, the network has to expand to the second floor (a second star-shaped network). They want to find out the impact of this additional traffic to the system.

  3. First floor network

  4. Run Simulation View and Analyze Results Create Network Models Choose Statistics Object statistic (server): SERVER LOAD (bps) Global statistic : ETHERNET DELAY (sec)

  5. Create New Scenario – First and Second floors

  8. Lab Report • A cover page with your name, course information, lab number and title, and date of submission. • A summary of the addressed topic and objectives of the lab. • Implementation: a brief description of the process you followed in conducting the implementation of the lab scenarios.

  9. Results obtained throughout the lab implementation, the analysis of these results, and a comparison of these results with your expectations. • Answers to the given questions at the end of the lab. If an answer incorporates new graphs, analysis of these graphs should be included here. • A conclusion that includes what you learned, difficulties you faced, and any suggested extensions/improvements to the lab.
