What is CAFOD? • CAFOD is an organisation inspired by our faith which takes its instructions from the Catholic community in England and Wales. • CAFOD is part of the universal Church, connecting people across the globe. • CAFOD works alongside those of other faiths and those of no religious affiliation.

  3. What does CAFOD do? • CAFOD exists to bring about lasting and positive change • in the lives of some of the world’s poorest and most disadvantaged people in the global South • while challenging those of us in the North to transform our lives for the common good. • This change is underpinned by our faith identity and our commitment to partnership.

  4. CAFOD’s Vision • Our vision is a world transformed to reflect the Kingdom of God: a world where – • The rights and dignity of every person are respected • Everybody has access to the basic needs in life • Women and men share equally in shaping their • Societies and our world • The gifts of creation are nurtured and shared by all • for the common good • The organisations and structures that shape people’s lives are just and enable peace

  6. COMPASSION • Confronted by global poverty and suffering, our fundamental response is compassion rooted in love. • We refuse to accept the suffering of our brothers and sisters and we are compelled to take action to alleviate it.

Prayers • Lord make me an instrument of thy peace; • Where there is hatred, let me sow love; • Where there is injury, pardon; • Where there is discord, union; • Where there is doubt, faith; • Where there is despair, hope; • Where there is darkness, light; • Where there is sadness, joy.   10. Prayers • Lord Jesus, show us something to do for you; something lovely to say, something kind to do, somebody to comfort, something lovely to make. Help us to watch with your eyes for chances to do your work because we love you.

  11. Prayers • O Lord, help us to put you first; others next; and ourselves last, now and always. • Help us Lord to be thankful for the gifts we have received from you and to share with others who are in need.
