U.S. LESSONS Eisenhower Fellowship 2001 Prepared by Sergei Vorobiev November 2001
Confession of a ‘native American’ – great tribe leader ‘Strong Backs’ whom I met in Grand Canyon
There is an amazing beauty of being productive & competitive HOW?
STRATEGY • What is a strategy? Strategy is about making bets…. • Strategy has to be changed anytime the landscape has changed
CHANGE • Change is the only constant • To learn, learn and learn faster than competitors • Change management became a tool kit not just a magic
MANAGEMENT • There is another way of doing: not hierarchical, but horizontal • Horizontal system – is the fastest in promoting and blessing talents
LANDSCAPE • There is an effective servant government which is learning in the pace of market • The “wunderkind” of New Economy is becoming a teenager • There is no more old economy – there is a New Old Economy
Do not waste time to copy past and even present modelsYou will never catch up Apply discovered methods to define your future
The legendary hockey-player Wayne Gretzky said: “I skate not to where the puck is, but where it’s gonna be”.
YOU • There are gurus in big temples, who are ready to teach you – just ask • In the knowledge based economy you should be full of knowledge, not full of yourself
