What is Cornerstone? • UCF-specific class that offers the following learning objectives: • Teamwork, Communication, Diversity, Ethics, Creative Thinking & Capitalizing on Change • Achievement in these objectives will be measured through: • Testing, Computer Simulation, Written Assignments & Service Learning
Service Learning • Students are given an opportunity to assist non-profit agencies within the Central Florida community • Component requires each student to contribute a minimum of 25 hours towards their project • Teams, teams, teams!

Attendance • You are expected to attend every lab! • Roster will be available each class and it is your responsibility to print your name. • Attendance Policy: • 1 absence = 0 points deducted • 2 absences = 20 points deducted • 3 absences = 40 points deducted • 4 absences = 60 points deducted

Team Assignments • Forms teams of 6 (7 maximum) • Responsible for setting up team guidelines and being accountable for all assignments, class attendance and communication with your team members, client and instructor • Peer evaluations will be used during the semester – may impact your grade!
Forming Teams • You want to be affiliated with a high-producing, hard-working team in order to have the best chance for success in this class. • Come Prepared with Key Information: • Days/Times Available to Meet • Type of Project You Would Prefer • Animals, Children, Rescue Centers • Skills You Posses • PowerPoint, Creativity, Public Speaking, Writing
SL Clients • Children, animals, shelters, O MY! • Your clients are my “eyes and ears” outside of the classroom – be courteous, professional and on-time • May require team meetings and personal contact – be prepared to schedule team interaction with your client • Client/Team Agreement required – establish this early and keep to it!
Semester Pointers • Be on time and prepared! • Assignments must be typed and submitted at the beginning of class! • Be respectful of your instructor, peers, and most of all…CLIENT! • Review assignment guidelines / semester due dates & keep to them! • Check my website and C-stone website! • Always provide instant and constructive feedback to your team members! • NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING!!!
