  2. About the inventor • James Naismith invented basketball in 1898 • He called it “Basketball” • James Naismith was born in 1861 • They made a trophy named after him. It’s for the MVP in college basketball • Its called the Naismith award

  3. Legends in basketball • Michal Jordan Played for the Bulls, and the Wizards. He went to UNC for college • Spud Webb played for the Hawks. He was good for his short height (5feet 6inches) • Ervin Johnson played for the Lakers and was recognized for his nickname, “Magic” • Julius Erving played for the 76ers. He is recognized for his nickname, “Dr. J” • Charles Barkley played for the Suns and 76ers. He is currently an announcer for TNT. • Larry Bird played for the Celtics

  4. How the game started • It started as people throwing a ball in basket • It originated in America • It started with only 13 teams • The Celtics won the first ever NBA finals • They called the league the NBA (national basketball association)

  5. Rules • You can only score a 2 pointer and a 3 pointer • You get foul shots if you get a shooting foul • There is a out-of-bounds. • Whoever scores the most points in the 4 quarters wins. • Each quarter is 12 minutes long.

  6. Uniform • Every player wears there team uniform and matching shorts and shoes • Some wear a headband and a arm band and even a leg band • Some players design there hair
