ENSTA’s History • In 1741, Henri-Louis Duhamel du Monceau, Inspector General of the Navy, created The School of Construction Engineers of Royal Vessels later to become The National School of Maritime Engineering • 1970: Merger with:- l'École Nationale Supérieure des Poudres (Powders)- l'École Nationale Supérieure de l'Armement (Arms)- l'École des Ingénieurs Hydrographes de la Marine (Hydrography) • 1991: Founding Member of ENSTA – General Presentation

Industry International Research Education Synergy Education – Research – Industry ENSTA’s educational objective: • Laboratories : Units of Education and Research, in close relation with the Industry • Teachers-Researchers from ENSTA’s laboratories conceive the programmes and give the courses, with the participation of numerous auxiliary teachersfrom the industry. • To train polyvalent engineers able to conceive, produce and direct complex industrial systems under economic constraints and in an international environment.
