  1. Using the Design Cycle:The newspaper “Wallet-case” By: Miguel A. Uy H1-D #37

How the Design Cycle was applied: • Investigate: We were given a task to create a product that could help lessen pollution. • Design: I thought that we could make a pencil case or a wallet out of old newspapers. • Plan: We had planned the ways that we can make it sturdy enough so that it wouldn’t open up ar fall apart while being used, so we decided to sew it together. • Create: We then gathered all the needed materials to build it and spent a day working on prototypes until we found a model that worked. • Evalute: After we had decided on a prototype to use, we examined it again and concluded that it was too big, so we had to make a smaller version of it, which led to our final product, the “Wallet-case.”

  3. The materials that you will need fot the “Wallet-case” are: • Thread & needle (any color you want to use) • Old newspapers • Scotch or masking tape • Scissors • Optional: Any thing you would like to use to decorate it. (i.e : markers, colored paper,ribbons, etc.)

  4. Step#1: Place the thread through the needle (the thread can be any color you wish)

  5. Step #2:Cut and fold a piece of newspaper (can be any size)

  6. Step#3:Fold the cut sheet in half crosswise then fold the ends to the center

  7. Step#4:Once you have folded the coners to the center fold together to make it only half of what it was.

  8. Step#5:Take the thread and run it through the bottom corner and then run it through the same side in which it first enterred.

  9. Step#6:Cross the thread to make it stronger. Repeat until you reach the top or the end of the thread.

  10. Step#7:Do the same for the other side

  11. Step#8:Cover the sewn edges with tape. Do the same to the other side.

  12. Voila! You’ve got your very own “Wallet-case.”
