Careers and Placements ServiceWhat is DLHE? • National survey of graduates that takes place annually. • Collects information about the activities of leavers approximately six months after graduation. • The Careers and Placements Service collects this data on behalf of the university Agency Central

  3. Careers and Placements ServiceWhen is the survey conducted? Two survey periods with different census dates Leavers who finish between 1 August and 31 December surveyed the following April 2011/12 leavers census date 16th April 2012----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leavers who finish between 1 January and 31 July surveyed the following January 2011/12 leavers census date 14th January 2013 The contact period is 12 November 2012 to 8 March 2013.

  4. Careers and Placements ServiceWho included in DLHE survey? • All students reported to HESA in the Autumn as obtaining relevant higher education qualifications in any year • Full-time or part-time (including sandwich and writing-up theses) • DLHE population includes all UK, EU & non-EU leavers

Careers and Placements ServiceHESA response targets • 80% for UK-domiciled (i.e. home) leavers who previously studied full-time; • 70% for UK-domiciled leavers who studied part-time; • 50% for all other EU students; • 80% for Research Council-funded students • No target for non-EU leavers ………..YET!

  6. Careers and Placements ServiceDLHE contributes to KIS • the proportion of graduates entering employment from an eligible programme of study • the proportion of graduates entering employment who obtain graduate level work • average salaries • Course level information for prospective students

Careers and Placements ServiceHow can Schools help with DLHE? • Make your students aware of the DLHE survey and encourage them to take part in the survey • Contact details of leavers – update as they finish their courses (via StudyNet themselves before they leave or via Alumni after they leave). • Participate in the survey process when requested by the Careers and Placements Service . • We can use destination information supplied by schools as long as it contains enough detail to satisfy validation requirements What steps will you be taking to work towards your goal? When do you move to Plan B? What can you do in: The next week? The next month? The next 6 months?
