Context/Background: How’d we get here? • Origins - Workforce Planning • Converging Needs: • Executive Needs • Workforce Planning • Finance Budget Integration • Goals: • Support Executives in their bid to oversee staff growth and trends and to control hiring • Help HR Advisors, Direct Services staff and others in the management, planning and understanding shifts in their workforce • Aid financial officers in payroll variance analysis • A common data set for HR Advisors and Financial Officers to discuss, compare and identify trends

Introducing “Movement” Data • One data set (staff counts and salary mass) - 3 audiences • Listing of administrative staff • M, C, T, LA, Trades and services • Regular and Contracts • Compares data at two different points in time • easy to see what’s changed and impact on salary mass • Identifies internal and external movement: • Internal: McGill staff moving inside McGill e.g. developmental assignment, promotion, lateral move • External: Staff entering or exiting McGill e.g. new hires • Describes the movement: Hire, Termination, Dept. Change, Job Change, Status Change… • Lists salary, fund type and org. hierarchies, etc… etc…
