Learning and Teaching English in S.1 INTEGRATION – textbook and classroom activities • Reading – Core Reading and Extensive Reading Scheme To enhance the 4 language skills: • Listening – listening textbook • Speaking – phonics, syllable dissecting, • oral presentation and discussion • ( + a language-rich environment ) • Writing – compositions, free writing and • various writing tasks

  5. Learning and Teaching English in S.1 • Grammar Teaching Self-learning – “Eng-class” online programme Study skills - vocabulary building - use of study tools e.g. dictionary - use of I.T. e.g. web search

  7. Learning and Teaching English in S.1 • Core Reading - 5 core readers are taught in class - classroom activities (reading aloud, dramatization, report writing etc.) English Reading Programme:
