After 9 climbs of this type yet another paddock was selected.
This time things were not looking good so a circuit was commenced.
A Paddock can be seen that looks very suitable, flat and a good run into wind.
A bleep of lift 1.1 knots and with the paddock so close why not give it a go. 266 agl!
After one turn 65 ft are lost and with a power cable in front a very rapid decision had to be made. Go over the power cable into the selected paddock, and risk not making it. Or go under the cable into the nearer paddock that had not been fully checked out and a little rough.
The glider came to a halt in adequate time with some side slip and full wheel break.
However as there was a dam with a slight water way running across the paddock about a meter before the glider stopped. • The glider rolled over the water way and with full wheel break on. Hit the belly of the aircraft on the ground making a two foot gash in the belly.
The over confident pilot thought he could get away with yet another low getaway. • If you keep pushing the limits the limits will eventually find you.
