Writing The most serious environmental problem: There are many big problems facing the earth. In my opinion, pollution is the most serious one. Sample one
Thewhole industry produce a lot of waste products that destroy the environmental balance. Many products are bad for the environment. For example, drinks are increasingly sold in bottles or tins which can not be reused. Plastic bags are used
everywhere. What’s more, rubbish is dumped on the side of streets, which let out bad smell. This not only causes problems, but also waste resources, such as glass, metals, paper and tins and so on. I’d like to advise people not to buy products that harm the
environment. Pollution and waste combing to be a problem. Everyone can help to solve these problems by cutting out unnecessary buying and careful use of the products we have in our daily life. Besides, people should plant trees and flowers to protect nature.
Sample two Water Pollution Water pollution is caused by waste from factories and cities. Oceans are able to clean themselves, but certain seas, once they become dirty, they are not able to do so. One example is the
Mediterranean which lies between Europe and Africa. It has only one narrow entrance to the ocean in the west. One quarter of the shores of the Mediterranean are polluted and are on longer safe for swimming, as a lot
of diseases are present in the water. In most places it is not safe to eat the fish. Lakes also have the same problems. Lake Baikal in Asia was once the cleanest in the world, with over 700 different kinds of plants
and animals. Now, however, the waters of this great lake, which is also the world’s deepest (over 1,740 meters), have dirtied by waste from a chemical factory.
Sample three Earth Problem The desert in the world is growing every year. Many parts of the world, which once had large populations and plenty of crops, have become deserts. Dunhuang in China, deep in the heart of the Gebi Desert, was once a great city.
Cattle are one cause of the problem. In good years, farmers increase the numbers of their cattle. Then one year later, the rain fails to come. The farmers do not want to kill any of their cattle, so the cattle eat all the grass and anything that grows on
poorer land. If this continues for several years, the grass never grows again and the land becomes a desert. One suggested answer for farmers is to limit the numbers of their cattle.
Another problem is that good soil is gradually lost. When trees are cut down, there is nothing to hold the soil in place on the hillside. So when it rains, the soil is washed down the hills. Strong winds can also blow away the valuable soil that lies on the top of the field.
Writing II on P142 Suggested answers: Good behaviors Most stores recycle batteries. People plant trees every year. Students study environmental issues on school . Many people ride bicycles to work.
There are many small groups of people who work together to discuss and solve environmental problems. Bad behaviors People throw rubbish on the street. One of the factories on the area pumps waste into the river.
Products are sold in plastic packages. People use white plastic boxes to carry food and throw away chopsticks. The newspaper in the area seldom reports about environmental issues.
