Duties and Responsibilities of Flag Bearers

Flag Bearers • Meet in designated area for presentation • Four bearers, one on each corner of flag, (two taller bearers at top of flag) carry flag (horizontally)

Flag Bearers • Check with referees or teams to make sure the flag is oriented correctly • Follow referees and line judges into playing area for presentation and anthems • Keep flag as taut as possible throughout presentation

Flag Bearers • Flag bearers closer to the net will line up just outside attack line so all four flag bearers are on court • When first referee signals, walk forward to the opposite sideline remaining just outside the attack line

Flag Bearers • When anthem for that country is played, bearers at top of flag raise the top so that flag is at 45 degree angle • Lower flag at end of anthem

Flag Bearers • For tournament event, team A will be first, followed by team B, unless host team is playing. Then visitors first followed by home. • At end of both anthems, bearers walk off court to area near moppers’ chairs and give flags to adult supervisor • May be asked to retrieve balls during official warmup
