Indirect Object • TO WHOM? FOR WHOM? • describes the object to which something is given, said or done The girl gives a gift to the boy. The girl gives the boy a gift.
English is weird! • Latin always uses the Dative Case to show Indirect Object Puella puero donum donat.
Dative Case • Used after verbs of showing, telling, giving, entrusting (see new vocab) • Most easily translated with the secret prepositions TO/FOR Do Now: Pg 63 Oral Practice Pt 2

- AE Duplicate Endings? • Nominative Plural -- Subject • Must be matched by plural verb • Subj. usually is at the beginning • Genitive Sg. -- usually follows another noun in a pairing • Dative Sg. -- usually precedes the D.O. Also look for verbs of “showing, giving, telling etc.”
