  4. Family Life • Married Eleanor Rosalynn Smith in 1946 • First graduate of U.S. Naval Academy to become president. • First president from the deep south in 150 years • Lillian recalled about her sons desire for being the president

  5. Interesting Facts • He can read 2,000 words per minute • Carter wrote more than 20 books • The national park service manages the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site
