How it began… • Taping & watching weekly episodes • Student idea to have our own in class Apprentice competition
Incorporating the Television Version • Video viewing permission slip • Episode worksheets • Contestant worksheet • Pictures of contestants by team & post weekly those “fired” on each episode • Tape the episode, fast forward through commercials & non-relevant areas Note the 1st season is the only season that can be purchased to date.
The Classroom Version • Video taping permission slip • Divide into teams (equally distribute by grade level). • Let each team come up with a name • Take students’ pictures and post on bulletin board by team • Use “Not hired” as opposed to “fired”
The Classroom VersionAssignment/Evaluation • Everyone participates and must complete an evaluation that incorporates course topics (see rubric) • Individual Profile • Alternative assignments
The Classroom VersionAssignment/Evaluation Tasks—Use your colleagues and community businesses. • Price Chopper Tools for Schools • Selling Yearbook Ads • Running Concession Stands at games • Fundraisers • ACC Day Display Competition • FBLA Events (Member recruitment, teacher appreciation, chamber of commerce mixer) • Business Plan & Presentation for a specific product
The Classroom VersionThe Boardroom • Limit time • Limit the “in-fighting” • Strict about only speaking when spoken to or you are “not hired”
