Challenge Two: Identify, Selection, Query • Using the query builder, ask and answer a question about the Montana BLM fossil database. • Create a view showing the results of your query.
Challenge Three: Map Making Create a map in layout view which incorporates at least two new data layers from either spatial sci or nris. • Your map should include a title, legend, north arrow, scale bar and at least one other map feature of your choice. • Your map should demonstrate at least one important attribute related to the Montana BLM fossil distribution pattern.
Planning Your Dig • The Montana BLM fossil database includes the following fossil types: • Mammals • Reptiles • Birds • Plants • Amphibians • Invertebrates • Fish • Dinosaur
Select a Research Site • Choose a fossil type of interest. • In groups of two or three, identify three fossil sites most likely to be rich in your group’s target fossil type. • Create an overview map of your selected research sites. • Your map should make a unique contribution to understanding the rationale you used to make your fossil site selections. • Your map will locate three fossil sites. • Be sure to include information regarding scale, access, and ownership issues.
