The IRMP Process • Long term development plans for Hertfordshire. • The level of dwelling fire risk using the FSEC Toolkit. • Analysed the call history for each station. • Reviewed our performance in terms of Best Value indicators. • Identified the predicted level of attendance times to dwelling fires, fires in other buildings and life risk special service calls.
The Fire Cover Review Process • Analysed the predicted area of coverage for each appliance using map isochrones and call data. • Looked at the density of fire cover across the county compared to actual activity levels to determine if any changes were required for station crewing arrangements. • Analysed our method of crewing. • Carried out ‘what if’ scenarios on the FSEC toolkit.

Details • 1st fire appliance to attend incident within 10 mins from TOC on 90% of occasions • 2nd fire appliance to attend incident within 13 mins from TOC on 90% of occasions • All building fires will receive an attendance of 2 appliances • All persons reported fires will receive an attendance of 3 appliances • RTC and Chemical Incidents unchanged
Community Safety Task Force Created by reallocating fire-fighters and deployed to deal with the following: • Reducing deliberate fires and delivering Community Fire Safety • Covering operational rider shortfalls • Providing operational cover for appliance based training • Promoting retained recruitment and retention
Hitchin and Bishops Stortford • Increase in Station strength by two
Hemel Hempstead, St Albans & Stevenage Reduce the number of personnel from the watches At Hemel Hempstead, St Albans and Stevenage from 13 to 12 • Re-invest into Community Safety Task Force • Maintain adequate crewing levels
Watford Introducing a variable duty crewing system for the second appliance at Watford. • 40-42 staff to operate this system • Cover available from Garston Rickmansworth, Bushey and London
Royston Convert the Day-crewing duty system at Royston to a crewing system that covers Monday to Friday day time hours
Radlett and Bovingdon Close Radlett and Bovingdon Fire Stations
Aerial Appliances It is proposal to reduce the number of aerial Appliances from 3 to 2. To be based at Stevenage, Watford and/or St Albans.
