Would you rather hang out with your friends ON-campus or off-campus? • On-Campus: 18% • Off-Campus: 82% • In regards to this survey question, we would deem this an expected outcome and we would personally agree with their choice. • If people would have answered on-campus rather than off-campus then it would show that there is no problem that needs to be addressed.
How many times per week do you go to downtown Merced? • None: 14% • Once: 45% • Twice: 17% • Three or More: 24% • The results revealed that 86% of participants travelled downtown at least once per week. • These results support our first question by helping prove students go off campus far more often than they stay. This makes sense because if UC Merced provided better accommodations, then leaving wouldn’t be necessary.
If given the opportunity, what kinds of entertainment facilities would you like to be built on/near campus?
If these facilities are built, what are you most likely to do on the weekends/vacations? • Go Home: 1/29 • Stay: 28/29 • Through this survey we found a clear demand for additional facilities which would support our previous questions.
Do you think it would be more convenient for yourself and others if these facilities were on/near campus? Why? • Everyone said “Yes” to this question and the main reason why people want these facilities on/near campus is because of transportation issues or lack thereof. • Once again, these results support the rest of our findings and further consolidate the demand/desire for these facilities.
Overall thoughts on our findings • How will what you discovered from the surveys inform your proposal? • That there is definitely a lack of sufficient accommodations on campus that everyone can benefit from. This in turn gives reason to our proposals. • How will what you discovered from the interview inform your proposal? • Unfortunately, an interview was not possible.
