  1. Who do you want to be with the most?

  2. Jesus lost in the Temple • 41 events in the Gospels where people are described as being amazed or astonished when they met Jesus • Probably not expanding the understanding of the educated men in the temple. • Jesus was maybe learning things in the scriptures about himself.

  3. What have you ever lost?

  4. Jesus lost in the Temple • They were “amazed” • Such a range of feelings for Mary and Joseph: anger, joy, relief, frustration, confusion.

  5. Who did Jesus want to be with? • Jesus reminds his parents that He was, first and foremost, the Son of God, in obedience to Him, and called to carry out His “Father’s business.” • Jesus for the first time introduces us to the concept of God as a father who is present, someone that you can call “Abba” which means father or daddy. • I also want us to notice that the word “must” was often used by the Lord, even aged just twelve he was moved by a compulsion to do God, the Father’s will.

  6. How do we feel? • How far would you have traveled before you realised that you had misplaced Jesus? • Are you sure Jesus is still with you in your travels?
