A JOINT EUROPEAN - JAPANESE DESIGN STUDY LABSYNC Laboratory Compact Light Sources a SEVENTH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME of the EUROPEAN UNION Third International Symposium on Laboratory Compact Light Sources Leuven - Belgium2-4 September, 2008 Scope of the Symposium : The need for advanced light sources is well documented by the creation of new large scale synchrotron facilities and strong upgrade programmes of older facilities. The applications of light sources encompass all aspects of sciences spanning the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, material science, electronics and medicine. An option to provide “more light” to this community is to develop new compact laboratory sources. Recently, several “laboratory scale compact light sources” were proposed. This symposium will serve as a forum to introduce and examine these laboratory scale compact light sources, and assess how they perform in real life experiments.
