  3. Commanders are the senior safety officers in their units. Leaders at each echelon are responsible for conducting a continuous, vigorous effort to prevent accidents. Leaders must ensure that adequate provisions for safe practices and physical protective measures are incorporated into all aspects of training.

  4. Accidents & Injuries Report all accidents and injuries Thru 66th TC Army NG will follow AR 385-10 EVERYONE IS A SAFETY OFFICER Combat Lifesavers

Driving on Post • Safe driving is every Soldier’s responsibility. • Soldiers will adhere to all traffic rules • Violators will be prosecuted. • Kevlar and seat belts are required while driving in a tactical vehicle. • Speed limits are posted. • Report all traffic accidents to the 66th TC Safety! Safety! Safety!

  6. Vehicle Safety Senior occupant will be responsible for: Responsible for the safe operation of their veh Report impaired drivers Ensure that all occupants wear seat belts Ensure personal wear hearing & eye protection if required Assist drivers in recognizing unsafe conditions

  7. Vehicle Operations Obey Speed Limits Properly licensed personnel Convoy Brief No smoking in Govt vehicle Ground Guides will be used when backing No sleeping in or around vehicles Vehicles will be chocked when parked on an inclines or maintenance is being preformed

  8. Vehicle Operations Transportation of personnel Whenever possible seats will be provided Personnel will not be transported with cargo Cargo will be secured at all times Use of cell phones and headphones while operating a Govt. vehicle is prohibited Reduce speed during inclement weather

  9. Physical Fitness Only Military issue PT uniform authorized Reflective belt/vest is required when running on the street. All personnel are required to wear a helmet when riding a bicycle. The wearing of portable listening devices (iPod, MP3player, CD player or radio) is NOT authorized while running, riding a bicycle or driving. Safety! Safety! Safety!

Tent Safety Continued Leadership will inspect tents daily Electrical Hazards No daisy chained power strips Limit use of extension cords (no plug together) Must be the grounding type (3 Prong) Do not alter the electrical circuit Storing Flammables No unauthorized Heaters Tent floors (wear foot protection) Fire Guards (24 Hours) NO SMOKING - NO SMOKING - NO SMOKING

Tent Safety Continued Post Emergency Action Plans in every tent Remember what number to call in emergency 663-000- Storage of combustible materials will be kept to a minimum and prevented from accumulating All electrical circuits will be grounded. (Generators, Electrical Service) Do not block the exits Leave center aisles open No vehicle engines running within 50 feet of the tents NO SMOKING - NO SMOKING - NO SMOKING

  14. Missions • Safety briefings should be given before every mission. • Ensure your soldiers have all necessary equipment. • Safety goggles and Kevlar worn when assembling antennas. Secure antennas • Risk Assessment completed before every mission. Safety! Safety! Safety!

YOUR SAFETY DEPENDS ON… • No smoking except in designated areas. • Always ground guide vehicles in pedestrian areas • During severe weather go to hard structured buildings • If you are not sure… ask questions • If you THINK … you will probably be SAFE • Use equipment… the way it was intended • Don’t ignore someone being unsafe… they have a family too
