  2. What is Routing? Routing is the process of finding a path on which data can pass from source to destination. Routing is done by a device called routers, which are network layer devices.

  3. What is default routing in CCNA? Cisco CCNA – Default Gateway & Default Routes. Default route which is also known as the gateway of last resort, is used in forwarding packets whose destination address does not match any route in the routing table. We usually encounter the concept of default gateways in our daily computer life.

  4. What does IP routing do? IP Routing is an umbrella term for the set of protocols that determine the path that data follows in order to travel across multiple networks from its source to its destination. Data is routed from its source to its destination through a series of routers, and across multiple networks.

  5. What are types of routing? Although there are many types of routing protocols, three major classes are in widespread use on IP networks : • Interior gateway protocols type 1, link-state routing protocols, such as OSPF and IS-IS. • Interior gateway protocols type 2, distance-vector routing protocols, such as Routing Information Protocol, RIPv2, IGRP.

It is usually performed by dedicated devices called routers. Packets are the fundamental unit of information transport in all modern computer networks, and increasingly in other communications networks as well.
