  2. From the Bulletin: We are part of the Evangelical Covenant Church – a family of over 700 churches. The Covenant is a Bible-centered, Spirit-led, devotional denomination that is deeply committed to starting new churches - planting a new church every 2 weeks on average!

  3. Ephesians 2:8-10 • GRACE: God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense • Salvation is a gift, not something we earn • NO: good things  salvation YES: salvation  good things

  4. Covenant Church History • Reformation, Martin Luther (1500’s) – the Bible is the Authority for Christians • Pietism in Sweden (1800’s) • Atonement debate (P.P. Waldenstrom) • Swedish immigration to America (1860-90’s)

Freedom, Connection, Mission • 700 Churches, over 120,000 members • Missionaries in over 30 countries – in Congo there are over 200,000 members! • World Relief & Human Trafficking • Institutions • NPU, NPTS, ACC, Minnehaha, CHET • Swedish Cov. Hospital • Retirement – one of top 10 providers of senior living • Covenant Publications, Companion • Church Planting!!!

Covenant Affirmations • We affirm the centrality of the word of God. • We affirm the necessity of the new birth. • We affirm a commitment to the whole mission of the Church. • We affirm the Church as a fellowship of believers. • We affirm a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit. • We affirm the reality of freedom in Christ.

  8. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.  For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:8-10
