Science hbl-light and reflection Group 6: Richmond Lim Jun Loong SeowJeryl Darryl Chan Yao Jiaxu
To allow James Bond to spy on Austin Powers from behind the wall, there must be mirrors placed within the bar and on various tables of the bar to allow James Bond to use the reflection of light to spy on Austin Powers A slanted mirror must be placed at the long bar table to allow James Bond to see from beyond the wall. However, the angle of the mirror does not allow James Bond to see Austin Power, and thus a mirror must be placed on a small bar table to reflect the rays to elsewhere
Another mirror must be placed on the wall This would reflect the ray of light to a small bar table, and a mirror must be placed on it so to reflect the light elsewhere The ray of light would be reflected onto the wall, and a mirror must be placed on the wall to reflect the ray of light onto a bar table, which would finally reflect the ray of light onto Austin Powers, allowing James Bond to spy on him
Assumptions • Austin Powers remain stationary • There are very few, if not no people, in the bar that would get into the way of the light rays and block James Bond from spying on Austin Powers
Limitations • While the set up seemingly seems to encompass a lot of area in the bar under surveillance, should Austin Powers move about the bar, his reflection will still be seen by James Bond but Bond will not know where did Austin Powers move to • There are many ways to disrupt Bond’s spying on Powers, as if anyone walked into the ray diagram, they would block Bond from spying on Powers • There are blind spots not covered by the reflections, and Powers could move there
