  1. About Me • George Heriot’s High School • Graduated in 2010 from Glasgow University • Studied abroad at University of Miami • Product Development Manager at Highlander Scotland Ltd

Highlander Scotland Ltd • Family business • Employ around 40 staff • Specialise in camping and outdoor as well as military • Sales Director, Glasgow University graduate • Won Olympic license in May 2010 • Within a year designed, developed and produced over 100 products and brought them to market • Business is growing very fast and our closest competitors and big customer have recently gone into administration

Product Development Manager • Researching the market • Developing new products for the coming seasons • Visiting trade shows searching for the best factories in the Far East to co-operate with • Manufacturing development, P/P and P/S samples • Carrying out quality control checks • Arranging shipment of the goods from China to Scotland

  4. Doing Business In China • 3-4 months a year in China • Developing and growing very fast • Factories all across China from North to South • Challenges • Office in Ningbo • Work ethic • Currently working on registering the Highlander brand in China

Lessons from University • 1st and 2nd year theory • Study abroad year gave me a great understanding of global business practices in education and international networks. • Dissertation taught me a lot about focus • Extra curricular involvement – Scottish Institute for Enterprise, – Student Enterprise • Market Ready Business Award • SIE New Business Award for Retail • Company Acceleration Program (CAP)
